Help Fight Global Warming!
Offset Your Environmental Impacts By Donating
Time, Funds, Computer Equipment, Vehicles, Etc!

After years of debate, most scientists now agree that Global Warming is a fact. There may be underlying natural cycles at work, but common sense says that adding the heat and CO2 from millions of barrels of oil per day is probably making matters worse. Although many people call it Global Warming or Climate Change, we believe that Global Meltdown may be a better term. That's because the economic, biological, social, geo-political, national security, etc... impacts are likely to be so profound that they will change the world as we know it (faster than we thought possible).

Are you and/or your organization looking for ways to help fight Global Warming by offsetting your impacts on the environment? If so, the Institute for Resource Information Systems (I.R.I.S.2 - the non-profit branch of I.R.I.S) needs your help to put FREE forestry and natural resource software into the hands of people whose decisions have major impacts on the environment every day.

Forests are one of THE major carbon sinks on the earth. Furthermore, forests are the only economically feasible way of sequestering CO2 (i.e. removing CO2 from the atmosphere and converting it) into a product that can be used to meet human needs. As such, keeping forests healthy and growing is important for controlling Global Warming, reducing Global Change, and meeting human needs. For this reason, we have been encouraging and helping people use Information Technology (IT) to intelligently manage and conserve natural resources since 1986.

To date, our efforts have put FREE forestry and natural resource software into the hands of hundreds of people who did not even know that it existed. We have also produced the PC/Handheld User Interface which provides a standardized user interface for managing the software programs and their data.

Over the years, we have paid the cost of finding, evaluating, learning, integrating, distributing, installing, providing training, and supporting the FREE forestry and natural resource software out of our own pockets (which are not deep). We have done this because we passionately believe that Information Technology (IT) is the only feasible way of improving forestry and natural resources management on the 5 BILLION acres of land and water in the United States and Canada.

If you and/or your organization are looking for a real way to offset your impacts on the environment, you can: 1) estimate your CO2 emissions using a Simple C02 Calculator; and/or 2) encourage your organization to perform a Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Management Plan. After calculating your CO2 emissions, multiply them by $9/ton to calculate the value of your impacts, and then click on a link below to offset them by supporting our distribution of FREE Natural Resource software.

If you donate time, funds, computer equipment, vehicle(s), or whatever, your name will be included on our Honor Roll Of Donors; you will receive a receipt and a nice certificate acknowledging your contribution to the environment; you will receive periodic updates showing how your donation is being used to improve natural resources management and conservation; and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have made the world a better place!
